
Hypnosis is a natural state of mind with a heightened state of suggestibility. We go in and out of hypnosis everyday. This is our alpha brain wave state, the same level you’re in just before falling off to sleep at night. Have you ever driven to your destination thinking intently on something that you didn’t realize how far you’d traveled or what streets you’d turned off to get there? You were in a state of trance, this same trance state is what you experience while under hypnosis. It works by bypassing the conscious mind (analytical, critical mind) and speaking to the subconscious mind (creative, imagination mind). Through hypnosis we are able to have direct communication with the subconscious mind, and this allows us to bring about changes at the subconscious level. We use hypnosis to help to let go of old patterns of behaviour that no longer serve us, and learn new ones. All our emotions are stored in our subconscious mind.
