Why Can’t I Make The Time?

When we want to uplevel our lives in some way, we often feel agitated, bored, anxious, or frustrated that something is just not right.  We sense or feel that it’s time to change and try something different in our lives. Perhaps you want to feel more growth, significance, certainty, excitement, connection, or love. Sometimes we know what we want more of but make the excuse that we are too busy to pursue it and act.

Changing your habits, and creating new behaviors takes time and repetition. Only with persistence can they become easy and a natural part of your identity. Over time, your habits become automatic (unconscious). So, you can’t just drop an old habit or behavior without replacing it with another new and improved one. Our brains work by addition, not subtraction. Without replacement, our old neural pathways will create impulses and urges to continue doing the old habits. However, when we rewire our habits and beliefs with consistent repetition, we achieve remarkable transformations.

The mistake that most of us make when we want to change, is believing that we need to take big action to get big results to succeed. As a result, most people fail soon after they start. It is too hard, too soon, and way out of their comfort zone. The opposite is true. We need to take small simple steps each day. It needs to be easy, realistic, and time-bound so we don’t feel it’s a massive departure from our comfort zone.

As you can see, it doesn’t have to take significant time out of your day to make meaningful changes. It takes patience and persistence in your commitments. Make the journey as rewarding as the destination. Just visualize how satisfied and fulfilled you’ll feel when you succeed!
